Introduction to Pipe Flanges and Flanged Fittings Using ASME B16.5

Online Course with e-Instructor Support

Earn: 10 CPD Hours
Price: $500

Course Description

This course is instructionally designed for inspectors, engineers, and other personnel who want to learn more about pipe flanges and flanged fittings, as described in ASME B16.5.

Online lessons are available for six months from the date of registration.

Learning Outcomes

Participants who successfully complete this course will be able to:

  • recall the common denotations for pressure rating and nominal pipe flange or flanged fitting size;
  • describe how to determine the working pressure based on the material group including high and low temperature considerations;
  • determine the system hydrostatic test pressure requirements for flanged joints and flanged fittings;
  • understand the markings requirements for flanges and flanged fittings;
  • describe the material requirements for bolting and gaskets;
  • determine the required dimensions of flanges and flanged fittings based on size and class, including tolerances; and
  • recall how to determine the pressure testing parameters for flanged fittings.

Who Should Attend

This e-learning course is designed for inspectors, QA/QC personnel, engineers, tradespeople, and others working for plant owners, pressure equipment manufactures and repair organizations, engineering procurement and construction companies in oil and gas industries (oilfield, upgraders, refineries, etc.), chemical plants, petroleum refining, petrochemical plants, power plants, pulp and paper plants, fertilizer plants, and others.
