Objectives

To achieve the Alberta In-Service Pressure Vessel Inspector Certification.

Note: This course is an exam preparation course. It will assist you in navigating and organizing the relavent information in order to pass the exam. It does not teach the understanding of the Alberta Safety Codes Act, Regulations, CSA B51, ASME codes, and other exam documents as outlined in the Inspector Certification Examination Syllabus (AB-59).

Accreditation

Each participant will receive a certificate with 1.6 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) accredited by the International Association of Continuing Education and Training (IACET) for completing all online lessons and practice exams.

Exam Details

The examination is open book and consists of 100 multiple choice questions. The time allowed for examination is 3 hours. The candidate must obtain 70% of the marks to pass the examination. The questions are broken down and graded in the 15 areas identified in the Inspector Certification Examination Syllabus (AB-59).

Required Code Documents

Please refer to the Inspector Certification Examination Syllabus (AB-59) for a better understanding of the authorized reference materials you may use during the exam.

CASTI will provide a list of published legislation and some ASME Code portions that are available for free download for course participants upon registration. Other ASME Code documents required for this exam are available for purchase from CASTI, however, there are additional reference materials you will need as outlined in the AB-59 syllabus.
